Why Your NEW Business Website Needs A Blog

OK, great. You’re thinking about a new website. Not only should you have a fully functional website that shares everything about your company and what you do, you need to think about attracting a loyal following, establishing yourself as a leader and finding a way to interact with your target audience!

Don't worry. We have a super easy suggestion.  It's a four letter word: starts with "B" and ends with "G", yep, it's BLOG - time to execute your company blog.

Why? -Well here are a few reasons:

Be The Solution – people aren’t surfing the web looking for your website. People are online looking for solutions to their problems.   A blog will give you the ability to display that you really know your stuff. Be the solution and people will be loyal to you and tell their friends.

Make Yourself A Leader – Along with offering solutions, become a leader. Create great content and contribute to the pool of knowledge out there. Competition is fierce and you need to stand out as a leader. A blog is a great way to do it.

Search Engines Will Love You– Search Engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing love new content.  With the latest Google Farmer (Google Panda) update we think it is even more important that you diversify your web traffic and ensure you have lots of great unique content.

Engage – Half the battle is publishing great content, the other half is building great relationships.   All good blogs allow readers to comment and add their voice to the conversation.   This allows you to interact with those readers in an enhanced way and grow your community. This also goes hand in hand with the concept of "being a giver" and that’s next.

Be A Giver  – By sharing your expertise for FREE, you’re showing to the world that you’re willing to give without expectation of return. Yeah, this is a little new-age but it’s true. You never know who might be the recipient.   Could be someone with a lot of influence and your giving character was just the thing to turn them on and recommend your company to their people.

Business Culture – people like knowing that the business they’re working with is run by real people. Using language and absurd industry jargon is barely ok for printed materials but not online. People want real info from actual people.  Talking about your latest products or services is excellent but don't spread yourself thin,  mix it up with some fun stuff and don't make it all about "me, me, me!"

Social Media – Couldn't go without mentioning social media! Having a blog is the ideal way to kick start your social media campaign. - I'm sure you've heard the phrase "Content is king!".  How many times can you tweet out your contact info? But if you have new content it will help the chances of someone finding your site out there in the social media universe.

Need a good blog example, check out a recent client of ours thisisliteracy.ca .  Whose blog helps offer  ways to make literacy a way of life. - Happy blogging!
