Did You Know? You Can Create Targeted Ads on Facebook!
Not only is Facebook a booming social media tool used to connect friends and businesses through pages and messaging – Facebook can also be a huge asset to advertisers who want to reach a specific target audience through online advertising.
Today, Facebook has over 500 million active users. That means that your company has the opportunity to target any one of these 500 million users and be very specific in your reach.
Using Facebook Ads you can target your audience by:
- Location (Geo-tagging that is worldwide!)
- Age
- Interest (by searching keywords on someone’s profile)
Facebook advertising can also be a great alternative to other forms of SEM (search engine marketing), like Google AdWords, for multiple reasons. One, Facebook Ads are much cheaper than Google AdWords because there is much less competition. Two, with Facebook Ads you can use up to 135 characters of ad text, compared to only 95 characters with Google AdWords.
In addition to being cheaper than traditional forms of SEM, Facebook Ads are much more highly targeted. Facebook holds information on an account holder’s age, location, education, employment and marital status – meaning you can reach someone as specific as:
- Female
- 20 years old
- Single
- With a University or College education
…who may be interested in your product or service.
I’m not saying that Facebook Ads is better than Google AdWords or vice versa, but they offer you different benefits and one may work better for your business. So next time you're considering using SEM or some form of online advertising as part of your marketing strategy, be sure to do your research and give Facebook Ads a fair shot!
