Summer Means Echidnas Having Good Times for Great Causes
So we may not be your typical group of Echidnas (which is actually called a Parade, but I digress). Generally, Echidnas “are very solitary animals,” but are “willing to share their home range with others of their kind. They are active during the day, but in warmer months they will often become nocturnal to avoid the heat...”
Well, while we do have a number of Echidnas who aren’t a fan of the hot weather (don’t even get us started on internal air conditioning. We actually have a right-thinking “Team Hot” group and a poor, misguided, “Team Cold” group -- you’ll find the latter huddled under a parka in +30 heat… but I digress again), the fact is that you’re able to catch random gatherings of Echidnas throughout the summer at various events.
For example, some of us attended the London Fringe Festival over the past couple of weeks. We’re proud sponsors of this event and were happy to see it enjoy another successful run!
But that’s just the start.
This weekend, Echidnas young and old will be out and about! On Saturday, we have a team registered in the Corporate Challenge! This is our fifth straight year participating and it’s always a good time for a great cause. This year’s event is in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwestern Ontario, so we hope to see you at Harris Park, cheering us on.
Also Saturday, some of our “Future Echidnas” will be at Fanshawe Pioneer Village for its “Wee Royal Tea” event. As a Gas Light Patron of the event, we’re happy to support the ongoing educational opportunities Fanshawe Pioneer Village offers. After all, we may be a tech-focused, future-thinking company, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have a healthy appreciation for the past!
Another event we love to support is the upcoming Signatures lunch for the Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario. We’ve attended this event for the past few years and this year we’re heading over with approximately three dozen echidnas to sample some of the best London has to offer -- all for a good cause!
And what would downtown London be without its amazing collection of festivals? We’re excited about the lineup for this year’s Home County Music & Art Festival and we’re proud to be an ongoing sponsor of the event and the organization.
We hope to see you out at one of these events! Make sure to follow us on our social networks (@digitalechidna on Twitter and or join our Facebook page!) as we regularly post photos of Echidnas in action! And that's just the first half of the summer. We'll have more to update soon!
Summer in the Forest City is an awesome experience -- and when you can have a good time and support a good cause, it makes it even better. We hope you’ll join us.
