London's UX Community to Take Centre Stage Tomorrow

London's emerging user experience industry is ready to take centre stage -- and you're welcome to be a part of a day full of learning, sharing, education, and networking at tomorrow's UX Centre Stage event to be held at the London Public Library's central branch.

I'm doubly excited to share this news with you. Digital Echidna is a proud gold-level sponsor of this event and has been involved with the local Ladies that UX chapter since the early days. And I'm on the organization's board in the planning, event organizer role. So you could say I have a vested interest in this day.

But you should too! There will be so much to see and do including:

  • seven experts in the UX field, representing three cities and two countries;
  • talks designed for advanced users and for those who are new to the industry or looking to learn more about UX;
  • networking opportunities and meet-and-greets with the speakers; and
  • swag bags for registered attendees -- and some great prizes to be handed out.

Two things to make clear, though:

  • This is a free event
  • This is not an event for women only

Ladies that UX is an organization that's female-focused, but it's not exclusive. There are definite needs to encourage women to explore technological and UX-related careers, and to provide examples for which they can follow. But men are welcome -- and always have been -- to these events. We're all about sharing knowledge, learning, and community, so we invite everyone to come out.

There's still time to register. Simply visit our Eventbrite page to obtain your ticket or go to the London Ladies that UX website

This is an exciting event for London as a whole. This weekend's event marks the only UX conference in London, and it is representative of our position on the national stage -- joining markets like Kitchener/Waterloo, Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver as hubs for UX work.

Our Ladies that UX chapter is the first of its kind in Ontario and only the second in the country. That's thanks, in part, to the support we've received from the community -- both businesses sponsoring and supporting our events, to people in the industry who have come together to share and learn.

I hope to see you there tomorrow for a day of education and celebration!
