News Update: Upcoming Drupal Contribution & Learning Opportunities in London, Ontario

At Digital Echidna, we're committed to open-source technology. In particular, we're proud of our standing as Southwestern Ontario's leading Drupal development firm.

It's a role we take very seriously and we're committed to giving back to the community. This 'giving back' takes a couple of forms: dedicating time and resources to help support the continued development and refinement of the Drupal content management system itself; and providing an environment for those interested in exploring open source technology and developing their skills.

We have a couple of events coming up that we want to share with the community.

LonDUG

On Tuesday, Nov. 26th, Digital Echidna will be hosting a presentation by our very own Scott Reeves (@Cottser), who is also a Drupal 8 theme system co-maintainer. He will be delivering a presentation entitled: Twig and the new theme layer in Drupal 8.

This free event will not only help you learn about the changes in the Drupal 8 theme layer, but also introduce you to opportunities to get involved. We'd love to see you there.

Drupal Sprint

On January 25th and 26th, we'll be hosting a sprint as part of the Drupal Global Sprint Weekend. Everyone is welcome to attend and if you've built a site in Drupal, you're able to contribute.

At the sprint, participants will be paired off to work on Drupal core issues. If you can bring a laptop, that's great, but if you don't have one, we can make that work too.

Although the event is running from 9-5, you don't need to commit to all of that time. If you can only come for just a few hours, your contributions would still be greatly appreciated.
