A Look Back on the Past; A Look Forward to the Future

An image of two echidnas, representing the old and new year.

The New Year is fast approaching and that usually means it's a good time to reflect upon our past year and make plans for the future.

Change and planning is a constant theme at Digital Echidna and it's helped us grow to the 50+-strong company we are today.

The fact is, we're no longer a one-person operation. We're a team that has talented employees with a wide range of skills that work together and complement each other. From sales to project management, from content to creative, from back-end development to front-end development (and all parts in between), we're continuing to grow, evolve, and change how we do things.

We're learning from our past successes (and mistakes, of course) and refining what it means to do things The Echidna Way. We're cataloguing and refining our processes to better meet the needs of our growing and expanding enterprise-level clientele.

And we're committed to retaining that personal touch that has long been key to working with Echidna.

We've launched a number of dynamic projects this year, including the Art Gallery of Ontario's Boxwood project and the Innovation 150 site. We continued our expansion into two of our key verticals -- health and education -- with launches for Mohawk College, Dartmouth College Alumni, Kingston General Hospital, the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, and the Canadian Writing Research Collaboratory, amongst others.

We've continued to assert our involvement in the Drupal community, building new sites on Drupal 8 (such as Hudson Boat Works), attending and presenting at various Drupal conventions and conferences, and working to give back to the local community of which we're so proud to be a part.

What's in store for 2017? Well, more of the same -- and so much more.

We believe strongly that building a solid foundation, over time, helps to ensure the viability of your company. We take pride in our work, we stand by our reputation, and we go about our business quietly, with confidence, and with our customers' needs at the fore of everything we do.

So 2017 is going to be the same thing: continuing to do what we do, but finding ways to do it better and deliver more value to our customers; continuing to do what we do, but finding ways to make it easier for our talented team to come up with new ideas, experiment, and let their skills and abilities shine; and continuing to do what we do in the community, and ensuring that their needs are met and their messages are delivered effectively.

We want to thank everyone who has been part of this journey to date and who has supported us over the years. We look forward to what 2017 and beyond has in store for us and we hope you'll continue to be a part of this process!

Happy New Year everyone.
