Engaging Success

One way or another, it’s going to prove to be an exciting week next week as I, along with a couple of other Echidnas, head to Boston to attend the Acquia Engage Conference

The first bit of excitement is that Digital Echidna is up for an Acquia Engage Award in the higher education category for our work on the SUNY Oneonta website. The awards are handed out to projects that show an advanced level of visual design, functionality, integration, and overall experience.

And this is all part of the greater Engage conference, which allows us to meet and interact with other agencies and clients who are part of -- and support -- the Drupal community. As you know, we made Drupal development a primary focus in our business. Beyond its quality as an enterprise-level platform, the true foundational strength of Drupal is its community of developers and supporters who diligently work to make it the best it can be.

We don’t talk as much about Acquia, but it too is a big part of who we are. Acquia was co-founded by Dries Buytaert, who is also it’s CTO. Buytaert is the person who is the original creator and project lead of Drupal. Acquia provides the leading cloud platform for building, delivering, and optimizing digital experiences. We frequently use the Acquia platform with our clients and are honoured to be recognized by this community.

Acquia Engage bills itself as being able to “[bring] together some of the best and brightest minds in digital to share ideas, create new connections, inspire, and be inspired.” And that may be the most exciting part of the experience for us.

After all, this industry never rests. What you did yesterday matters, but largely only as a foundation upon what you’re going to do next. One of the most exciting things about the business that we’re in is that you’re constantly learning, developing, experimenting, and pushing yourself to get better, learn more, and, ultimately, deliver a better experience to the end user and your clients.

We’ve attained a level of expertise in our field. But that doesn’t mean we can rest on our laurels. Events like this offer us an amazing opportunity to continue our growth and learning. And award nominations like the one we received for SUNY Oneonta allow us to feel that we’re on the right path.

Wish us luck, as we head off to Boston next week. But know that one way or another, we’re going to have an exciting -- and informative -- experience.
