Write Compelling PPC Ads

Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising is a very common “buzzword” used in the online marketing industry today. Sure, a website is a great starting point to get your online marketing strategy up and running, but what good is your website if nobody visits it?

PPC Advertising like Google AdWords or Facebook Ads, is a cost-effective way to help increase traffic to your website because you can choose your monthly budget (large or small) and decide how much a “click” on your ad is worth. A “click” on your ad in turn helps to promote your product or service and increases your brand awareness.

Now where do you get started? Defining your target audience and keywords is a great (and important!) place to start with any advertising campaign, but it is not enough. In addition to knowing your audience, advertising goals and budget, you also need to write compelling ads that are persuasive enough to make a user click on your ad and visit your website.

So whether you’re writing 95 characters or 135 characters of ad text, here are some tips to help you write compelling ads every time!

  1. Include your keywords in your ad text, better yet, include keywords in your headline
  2. Describe a benefit of your product or service and tell users why your product is better than your competition’s product
  3. Use a call-to-action like “Contact Us” or “Buy Now and Save”
  4. Offer incentives (if applicable)
  5. Ask the reader a question relevant to your product or service

In addition to these 5 useful tips, be as specific as you can in your ad text. Remember, you don’t want people to click on your ad unless they’re actually looking for your product or service since this is what costs you money.

What are some of your tips for writing compelling ad text (online or print!)?
