Web Developer Position - Front End Specialist

Digital Echidna is looking for a new team member to work as a part of our front-end development team to plan, design and execute web solutions. This team member must have established development experience, either in-house or agency.

Digital Echidna is a web development team with a track record of providing our clients with an exceptional experience both in our customer service and technical execution. We build some of Ontario's largest and most complex websites.

SO... ABOUT THE DRUPAL

Although we are a Drupal shop, this front-end specialist does not need to know Drupal inside and out. You will work with the latest front-end tools and templating engines.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Position will focus on planning, designing and implementing front end development using web technologies;
  • Develop, support, code, install, test, debug, and document scalable, high-availability websites, and web applications;
  • Stay current on browser/platform capabilities and traditional design and engineering disciplines;
  • Maintain and continually expand upon expert knowledge of multiple languages, frameworks, tools, devices, applications, mobile devices, and their capabilities; and

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum two to three-year community college diploma or University Degree in Multimedia, Interactive Web Design and Development, Media Theory and Production, Computer Science, or Programmer/Analyst field(s); and
  • Continual updating on related industry topics.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Proficient in HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, JSON, JQuery, CSS, Git;
  • Must be proficient in CSS preprocessors (SASS)
  • Ability to wireframe and prototype
  • Mac OS and terminal experience
  • Knowledge of tools such as gulp, grunt, nodejs
  • Ability to implement progressive enhancement techniques
  • Desire to learn and adapt to new applications and frameworks;
  • Ability to make sites accessible (WCAG AA);
  • Commitment to delivering high quality web project on time;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Rapidly identify and fix bugs; optimize performance in a constantly evolving live production environment; 
  • Capable of working independently on individual project components and with team members to integrate these components into a complete applications.

BONUS SKILLS

  • Photoshop;
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
