An Echidna at the Heart of Drupal 8

It's safe to say that the Drupal Content Management System is a big part of who we are and how we've grown, and it has contributed greatly to our success.

And I'm thrilled to say that one of our own is now a big part of who Drupal is!

Drupal founder Dries Buytaert announced today that our very own Scott Reeves is now one of only a handful of people in the world who can commit and push code changes to Drupal 8 itself: Scott is now a provisional core committer for Drupal 8.

It's a huge honour. And it's well deserved.

Scott has thrown himself, heart and soul, into Drupal development. He's taken on key mentoring roles and has travelled the world speaking about Drupal. In fact, he's shortly on his way to India to do a presentation there.

And wherever he goes, he carries the Digital Echidna and London, Ontario banners with him.

Drupal is the driving force behind hundreds of the world's top websites. This open-source platform is built and maintained by a group of over 3000 developers. And Scott is one of only a half-dozen or so people in the world who can directly make changes to Drupal 8 core.

In the web development world, this is an incredible honour. And we at Digital Echidna are proud to support Scott's continued efforts and work with Drupal. I'm proud to support the Drupal community wherever and whenever we can, and I'm even more proud when talented, dedicated Echidnas are recognized for their fine work.

This new role will require more of Scott's time and I'm pleased to be able to facilitate those efforts by sponsoring his Drupal 8 committer duties while on Echidna time.

Drupal is at the heart of Echidna. And now, there's an Echidna at the heart of Drupal 8! Please join me in congratulating Scott for a much-deserved recognition of his talent, dedication, and efforts.
