Drupal 8 - The Best Gets Better

What happens when the best gets better? It's an exciting time to be a Drupal shop with the impending launch of its newest version -- Drupal 8.

Truth be told, we've been gearing up for this for a while. And it's been more than just the Drupal hockey jerseys we've been sporting around camps and conventions (and giving away!) -- it's been a result of our ongoing commitment and dedication towards making Drupal better.

Drupal is an open-source content management system. That means it's only as good as the people who dedicate their time, experience, and skills to making it better. Over 2,400 people have contributed to the development of Drupal 8, with more joining every day.

Our staff has been heavily involved with the continued development of Drupal, including taking leadership roles in the process. We have four certified Drupal grandmasters. We continue to actively promote Drupal on a local (LonDUG) and national (Drupal North) scale.

It's safe to say. We're all in on Drupal.

But it's also safe to say that we're not married to the Drupal CMS based on blind faith. It's because it is the best system out there. It's the world's leading open-source web content management platform. And it's only getting better.

So what's exciting about Drupal 8? Here are just a few of the key highlights:

  • It's mobile to the core -- deploy content once; display it how you want on any device;
  • It's multilingual -- translate anything in the system with built-in user interfaces;
  • Out-of-the-box views -- quickly and easily create custom pages, filters, actions, and more;
  • Fast theming -- build quickly with the Twig template engine (a component that our very own Scott Reeves played no small part in developing);
  • Better mark-up -- page markup is now HTML-5-based; and
  • An Industry-Standard approach -- so non-Drupal developers can take advantage of Drupal's power.

We're not reinventing the wheel here. But we're making that wheel run faster, ride smoother, and look better. We hope to have you join us for the next stage in our Drupal journey!
