Celebrate Drupal 8

Today we celebrate the launch of Drupal 8 -- the newest version of the world's premiere content management system. We're happy to join the rest of the world in sharing the Celebr8D8 launch event.

Drupal is an open-source software maintained and developed by a community of over one million users and developers. It is embraced by some of the world's largest and most recognizable brands, including Whitehouse.gov, Harvard, Oxford, The Economist, The Beatles, and many more. The new version, Drupal 8, will officially launch on Nov. 19, 2015.

It's also a big part of who we are and how we've grown. We embraced Drupal a few years ago and it's been a huge factor in our growth and development. As the scope of our clients grows, they appreciate the enterprise-level support Drupal offers. It's why we have clients from across North America turning to us for our expertise.

It's a big part of why Digital Echidna was recently recognized as one of Canada's Top Web Development Agencies by Clutch.

We also feel a sense of personal pride and accomplishment with the today's launch. After all, many members of the Digital Echidna team were heavily involved in the building of Drupal 8, dedicating hundreds of hours to development, testing, and quality assurance of the final product.

So what's different? Some of the key improvements in Drupal 8 include, but are not limited to:

  • Better content authoring experience;
  • Mobile-first focus;
  • Extensive accessibility integration -- important for AODA compliance;
  • Designed for the post-browser era;
  • Faster performance;
  • Multilingual; and
  • Better integration with the industry standard approach.

We're hosting a Drupal 8 launch party, in conjunction with LonDUG -- the London Drupal Users Group -- at our office at 103 King St. in London, ON today from 5 p.m to 7 p.m. You're welcome to join us!

We're excited about the future and we're proud to put the Forest City on the Drupal map (see for yourself!)
