Putting London on the Drupal Map

This weekend, 42 centres in 20 countries around the world will be coming together to participate in the 2015 Drupal Global Sprint Weekend. London will be a big part of that as one of only five centres in Canada -- and it's just another way that Digital Echidna is working to maintain the Forest City's standing as a hub for Drupal excellence in southwestern Ontario.

Digital Echidna hosts regular London Drupal Users Group (LonDUG) events most months. We're committed to giving back to the community that has given us so much and has helped us grow from a local one-man shop to a 30-strong company with clients across North America. We embraced the community concept of the Drupal Content Management System early on and believe strongly in dedicating our time, talent, and effort into working to improve the crowd-sourced content management system.

We'll be hosting London's Drupal Sprint Weekend on Saturday, Jan. 17th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Basically, if you've built a site in Drupal, you can contribute. We'll break off into smaller groups, work on Drupal core issues, and even provide lunch! For new contributors, we'll have mentors on hand who can help you find your way. Sprints aren't just for coders -- there are many ways you can contribute and you may be surprised how useful your skills can be.

So what's in it for you? Drupal sprints offer you a chance to:

• Grow your skills;
• Network with local developers;
• Extend your contacts and reach to a global network; and
• Contribute to a project bigger than any one of us.

What's great about Drupal is that it really is a collaborative environment. As an open-source technology, anyone can contribute and any one of us could provide that next great idea or patch.

Digital Echidna is proud to host these events because we know what they mean to us, professionally, and the city as a whole. We're committed to the Drupal platform both now and into the future, which is why we take an active, leadership role in the community.

Hosting events like this also ensures that London is firmly entrenched on the map (especially this one) as a hub for Drupal development. Other Canadian venues are the usual suspects: Montreal, GTA, and Vancouver -- so for London to hold its own with the bigger cities is a feather in all of our caps.
